Feeling-Not Groovy but at least the Bitch is gone

The I hate everybody and nobody loves me feelings are gone. I finally got so sick of myself by late Saturday that I finally did the smart thing. I went outside and got some fresh air. I then went to Barnes and Noble briefly and got the worst Egg Nog Latte in the cafe (and they use Starbucks product and recipes) that any barista could possibly make. I didnt even go back and ask them to remake it I just wanted to go home.

When I got home I set to work on making room for the office equipment that will soon be here. I put my trainer (the thing I use to turn my lovely Carbon Fiber Specialized with Index shifting, clipless pedals (I use MT bike pedals and shoes on my road bike) and aerobars into a stationary bike) up in the attic. I put my tri crate filled with shoes, helmet, gloves, flat kit, CO2 cartridges, etc up in the attic. I now have to just either move a bookcase or pack the books themselves up and put them in the attic or shed.

So Regardless of how bad I felt I decided to spend Saturday nite with my boyz. That is the AcesCracked gang. Sham and RK and Penn and of course the Grebster who I swear does not no what to make of me. I'm not sure if the guyz were on eggshells but I assured them I was going to be on good behavior. Of course the minute I started raising I was accused of being a bully but at least not a bitch. Anyway. I played to let off steam and played rather well just didnt get the breaks I needed with the flops completely missing me. Out I went in 8th but it was okay. Now, I had joked in my post about behaving like Regan in the Exorcist and since my boyz read me the chat went down something like this when I exited:

Shamanalix: IG, teach them some REAL words

I spent the next hour playing Pot limit Omaha 8 On FTP and got back most of my stars buy-in at the ring game tables. I also worked off some of that wretched bonus. The bonus which is like a Holy Grail. For some reason I have visions of my MTT luck changing drastically once I clear the bonus or it expires. For every so many MTT donkouts, they throw you a bone of $10 to keep you grinding and coming back for more.

Sunday, I woke up and was ready to go shopping. Of Course, I was now kicking myself over all the Black Friday and Saturday deals I may have missed. So I went to Macy's and found a bunch of INC tops 40% off but decided not to buy them yet. I had found the prettiest red dress with a black bow in Real Simple magazine. The dress was at Banana Republic but when I pulled it up online it didnt look as nice and was Velvet. Now velvet and a long-haired cat is asking for trouble. Plus the price on-line was about $30 more then in Real Simple. I then decided that although the dress would be perfect and a great addition to my classic black Ann Taylor dress (the one Im wearing in my picture). I don't really have any place to wear it yet. So the dress and ruby slippers will not be purchased.

I then went to BJ's for some bulk stuff and fell in love with most awesome 50" Philips Plasma HD TV. Not only that but it had a BOSE home theater system hooked up to it. What made me stand there like a kid in a candy store was that when I walked into BJ's, Dave Matthews at the Rocks was playing on it and it was like being at the show. Of course, it must be a clear sign from the heavens that I must own this because Dave is on there singing away and making his funny little faces. I say hmmm.....deplete complete poker bankroll of $3500-$4000 dollars and I can buy this and start over.... but TV must be transported upright.. Won't fit in Santa Fe.... I'm not driving to Dad's to get his Explorer Sport Trak just yet..... I will never leave the house because I will have an awesome TV with and awesome sound system, High Speed internet access, and I'll be working from home. Ill be found years from now like that crazy old lady in Great Expectations.

I was a good girl and got the stuff I had went for as well as a Rosemary tree which smells awesome and an Amaryllis bulb to plant because tis the season. I also got the 2nd Season of Lost but passed on Desparate Housewives. I then got myself a really good Peppermint Mocha at the real Starbucks. I ate a whole bunch of Lindt Dark Chocolate Truffles cuz they go good with PMS.

I got home to find a message from Snake and to call him back. Fortunately, he's a great guy and accepted my apology for my psychotic behavior at our live league game on Friday nite. So, I popped up Pokerstars because I just figured he was playing and typed a "Yoohoo Ill call ya on your break" as he was deep stacking it. He had doubled up about 2 hours in from the starting chip count and had a nice M of about 71 and I decided to observe while planting my Amaryllis. The dudes at his table were a bunch of donks and dorks. One dude kept saying something about being Sparticus. Im saying to myself "Is he like about 15?" One little annoying shortstack kept saying he felt like a winner because this was the longest he had ever lasted. "Im like dude the blind levels are 3x as long and you started with like 3 1/2 times the chips. Of course you lasted longer you DONK." At the break I rang up Ray and said you are at a table with a bunch of morons. I gave him a little IG pep talk and told him not to minimum raise and wait for big hands. He had plenty of time. He was pretty card dead from the time I pulled him up till the break. I know he doesnt need to be told this but sometimes when cold decked patience isnt the strong suit of an aggressive player.

I let Ray get back to his tourney and went back to my Amaryllis. I planted the bulb in the compost that had now exploded from its little prefab pellet while I was chatting. Then I read the box. Blooms in 6-8 Weeks. ARGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH. It wont be ready for Xmas. But I sniffed my rosemary tree and the world was good all again. I think a nice boneless tack of lamb is in order to make use of that rosemary. I contemplate my next move and decide not to play any cards till the 8:15 PM Omaha Hi Lo tourney on Pstars 360 max players.

I register for the tourney and am doing some stuff and the phone rings and its Ray again asking if I'm going to play and he tells me he decided to play Bodog's 50K guarantee with the great overlay and Deep Stack format, I had sent him the email on earlier. Im just about to get underway on pokerstars. First hand I would have hit a boat but it was a high hand only possiblity with AK89. Now I hate hands with 8 and 9, and of course it hits me but not till the turn and river. I then make a donkilicious move when my nut low gets counterfeited on the river and is no longer the nutz. I call anyway and lose half my stack. This isnt going to be fun. I'm watching Ray too, and type Patience Grasshoppper. Before I know it I'm all in and all out on pokerstars and pretty much simultaneously he got knocked out on Bodog. I try to call him to see what he actually went out on but his cell is busy and I get sidetracked by something else.

I then blow a few more dollars on FTP playing PL08. The cards aint happening today so I cut my losses at about $3 less .44 cents of cleared bonus and call it a day. No more poker for me and its back to work tomorrow after 4 days off. I really really really like not working.

Tonite I wound up just signing up for the Poker Analysis Freeroll game. I lasted all of ten minutes. I look down to AA and raise 4x bb. Get two callers but chase out the two limpers and the blinds. I overbet the flop with a Ten rag rag on board. Called ut oh... I check the turn and am faced with a bet for almost all the rest of the chips. Okay set of tens you win. Take the rest of my chippies. I was in no mood to play anymore tonite after that fiasco and since it was a freeroll Im out no money at all. Ill cut my losses and call it a day.

Tomorrow short day at work as I have to go to court for my traffic ticket. I was told to play dumb and plead not guilty. May work for the blonde who told me that but normally that doesnt work for me. I'm gonna take the Jamie Gold approach and tell the truth. Maybe Ill be lucky and he cop wont show. Yeah Right.

I Plan on playing the WWDN and the Poker Analysis Buyin game both on Pokerstars Tuesday nite. Watch out NewinNov!!

This is my life

Right now I hate everyone and everything, its called PMSing. I knew it last nite when I waved my finger from across the table at Ray. He had just raised my BB for the second time in a row in two orbits and said "I wouldn't do that if I were you". So, even though I was supposed to go in to work overtime which is +EV, I decided that being around people and having to sit still doing a monotonous project was just not going to be productive.

Now, going to the gym and putting my body thru some yoga, booty and ballet would be the smart thing to do. Get those endorphin juices flowing and get the bitch on wheels out. Shopping is also a great outlet when I feel like this but of course that means venturing out on Black Saturday and having to mingle with people. I might just pull something out of someone's hand. On-Line shopping is a definite possibility but isnt the same as holding a pair of shoes or a purse in your hand. Poker is a definite no no right now. Then there is the creative thought processses involved in writing. So here I sit.

A few posts ago, I mentioned I didnt want to be the Suzy Kolber of poker. I wanted to be the Carrie Bradshaw of poker. Sex in the City was one of my favorite shows. I like Carrie, am completely capable of getting all pulled together only to get a heel caught in my dress or a grate and winding up in a heap on the floor. Heck I got my foot caught in my yoga pants the other day and nearly took a header.

Anyhow, I remembered this little quiz I took during the day and here are the results:

You scored 70% Carrie

Your answers peg you as a Carrie-type, much influenced by the Air Sign qualities associated with Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. Like confident Carrie, a sex columnist, you're curious and perceptive, always seeking answers and never satisfied with the superficial. An Air Sign influence can lead to indecision and an avoidance of tough issues, like with Carrie and her on-again, off-again attachment to Mr. Big. Forward-thinking, incredibly intelligent and witty, you just exude quirky charm. You'd be utterly bored by someone who's just a pretty face or hot body -- though you don't mind looking and flirting! You're more turned on by an equally smart and funny mate, someone who challenges your mind and makes you laugh. You love to talk, so you need a good listener who's open to playful and eccentric ideas about love and lovemaking.

You scored 20% Miranda

You chose many of the same answers that Earth Sign-like Miranda, the cynical but pragmatic lawyer, might have chosen. Just like Miranda's had a tough time deciding whether to give in to the affections of Steve the Bartender, you don't give your heart up to just anyone.

You scored 10% Samantha

You identify with Samantha's bold and liberated Fire Sign qualities, characteristics associated with the Signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. You're strong, audacious and larger than life -- and you take what you want! Sometimes you can even be thoughtless and selfish, as you get so caught up in craving immediate gratification and excitement that you overlook someone's feelings. Your personal style likely reflects your desires: sleek, low-cut, revealing just a bit more than might be considered acceptable. Watch that you're not coming on too strong, though. You could scare potential suitors off with all your drama. Show less skin or cleavage and more of your creativity, your vibrant leadership skills and courageous generosity!

You scored 0% Charlotte

Here is a snippet of a Thanksgiving day conversation.

Judy: How is your Dad, IG?

IG: Good but the same Judy.

Judy: Did he ever split from what's her name

IG: Nope and the stepmonster is not doing well from what he just told me. (undergoing chemo again)

So, I have to explain myself to Craig and his wife Susan and Roger and this comes out of my mouth:

IG: My stepmonster is an alcoholic, she left my dad for the Village Idiot. She survived Ovarian Cancer 20 years ago only to have a reoccurence of Colon cancer last year and it appears to be on the move to her lungs

Now everyone is interested in this dysfunctional family story.

IG: Dad is about 15 years older then Stepmonster, the village idiot is between my sister and I. He went to the special school (the alternate school which isn't the same as BOCES). He rode the short bus.

Now, my mom nearly spits her stuffing across the table in pregnant Susan's direction. Although she knew what I meant by special school, she wasnt familiar with the use of the phrase: short bus.

Later on while watching clips and photos of Judy and Jerry's trip thru Yellowstone, they pause on shots of the "Begging Burros". Literally the burro's stop cars and beg for handouts. I quip " I guess they aren't a bunch of dumb-asses now are they?" When I looked at the burros/donkeys I imagined the faces of some of the people I play cards against super-imposed.

I never bought into PMS until I had a complete meltdown at work a few years back. Someone asked me for help when I myself was overloaded, and I nearly took their head off. I had been off the pill for a bunch of years but a few days out of every month I was turning into Regan in the Exorcist. So, off to my OB/GYN. I opted to go back on the pill and although it does take care of my horrific periods, I still have a few days of insanity and brain fog now. Being peri-menopausal doesnt help either. I'll be all good tomorrow.

APL Live Play week #12 - @!#%#*

No final table or bonus points. Out about 15th or 16th when I re-raised the inital 3x bb raise of $1200 for about another $2000 and ran my KK into AA for the second time of the day. What is even worse is that Bill hit Quad Aces. Needless to say I should be wearing my WARNING ON TILT - T-shirt. I can't even take pleasure in the fact that I closed the 6 point gap Ray had on me and I outlasted Lex and Doug.

So I'm blowing off steam on pokerstars in a sit and go which originally was another clusterfuck but is salvageable. Ive just moved off the bubble into 3rd with 4 left.

Edit- I managed to finish 3rd in the SNG for a profit of $4.50 ($5.50 buyin STT). The Chipleaders 7's full of 4's beat my 4's full of J's.

You Lose Some, You Win Some

After combing thru the Thanksgiving day ads and circling all the things I want but dont need, I slept in and didn't partake of any Black Friday mayhem. No early 4:30 or 5:00AM rise for me today. I need to be sharp for my live league game tonite. After being wired Tuesday nite from the caffeine I consumed during the WWDN and then another late night Wednesday Mookie-ing it up, I decided to just hang out and do some stuff at home.

The Mookie I found me as we say in triathlon "off the back" (that means I lost the leaders early) and then I just bonked. It didnt help that my nemesis from the WWDN, NewinNov was seated to my immediate left. Every time I tried to raise his blind from the SB he would reraise. I had okay hands but not enough to call the large raises he was pushing my way that early on. Finally, I said to myself I am taking a stand the next time regardless of my cards and regardless if I get knocked out because NO ONE PUTS IG IN THE CORNER. So I look down to KQos and raise. NewinNov reraised. I pushed all in and he called with A6os. I believe Ace high took the pot and I went out with a middle pack finish. The phone immediately rings and Snake who was railing me asks "Are you okay?". I think he thought I had lost my marbles. "That's so unlike you". "I'm fine" I say with a laugh "In fact, I'm feeling like such a masochist that I think I'll play Mookie II." Since I didnt have to work the next day, and I had consumed more caffeine while catching up with Ray, I was wired and ready to play the Mookie II. Although I did final table the Mookie II, I went out 8th with only 3 paying.

So today I just went out to Target and bought my holiday favorite: Peppermint Bark. IG loves her Starbucks Peppermint Mocha's. But the winning combo is combining dark Chocolate (my favorite kind of chocolate) with Peppermint candy.. DING DING DING.. Winner Winner. Im being a very good girl and haven't had a piece yet.

So I decide to sit down and play a SNG on Full Tilt. For some reason FTP hates me in MTT's and SNG's. Today was no different. I sit down and am out on the fourth hand, but not before I got notes on one chick who chased a flush all the way while holding the Ace of hearts and an unsuited card. I look down to KK and raise to $105- 3 1/2 times the BB. I get reraised to $210. Now Im not stupid and I said that bastard cant have AA can he? Why does FTP always do this to me. So I re-raise all in because now I am really really pissed at Team Full Tilt, because they and not the RNG are the ones doing this to me. Of course we all know he insta calls with AA and I prove that curiousity is expensive and that $5.50 is just pocket change to me now.

So I immediately find a short-handed Omaha Hi-Lo .05/.10 cap limit table (Holy Mother of Pearl how many adjectives is that to describe what you are playing!!!) and get my complete buyin back plus some in probably less then 30 minutes when I scoop two beautiful pots with wheel lows and a 6 and 7 high str8 respectively. Isnt Life just grand. I'm pleased that I can now rely on my Omaha Hi/Lo ring-game play to recoup my tourney buyins.

Peppermint Bark is calling my name. I think I'll have a little piece and get myself ready for APL tonite. Gotta win enough to pay for that speeding ticket Im gonna have to settle up on this coming Tuesday. Our league results look like this right now:

1 Eric 297 11
2 Lex 282 11 (BigTai)
3 Steve 278 11
4 Ray 276 11 (Snake5970)
5 Lori 270 11 (Irongirl01 or Irongirl)

I only have a 5 point cushion on Zoe who is sitting in 6th. I have 9 more weeks to ink a win for a spot in the Tournament of Champions which is a tourney for only the weekly winners. Eric, Steve and Ray are already in. Lex with a bunch of runner-up finishes and me with one are gunning for our spots. Time to step in up a notch and put all the pieces of my game that I have been working on together to get that win.

Under the Table and Dreaming- Happy Thanksgiving

I just got off the phone with my dad and best friend Kim. Both still live in the county where I largely grew up from age 5 till I left for college. Columbia County is largely rural but the centerbase is Hudson a town that has a split personality. On one hand Hudson has had a rebirth. Antique dealers and NYC style restaurants populate Warren Street and it is an artsy fartsy place to go. Last time I met my gal pals Eileen and Karen at Mexican Radio, Mary Stuart Masterson was there working on a film she was producing. On the other hand it has had two murders in the last month and has a lot of gang activity. One of the murders was gang style because a Crip or Blood crossed over into the others turf. The Latin Kings also have made Dudson a home.

It is just to freaking easy for the welfare base to hop a train or carjack a vehicle and drive up the Taconic to Columbia County and get on the rolls there. Even after they've been kicked off in NYC. The police force is a joke they largely look the other way at the drug activity. The school system rates as one of New York States worst. My dad said the kids when they leave school for the day are defiant. They will walk in the middle of the road and not move. Part of me says just run them the fuck over fewer freeloaders on the taxpayers dole.

Kim and I are plotting to fix her mother (Barbara) up with my father (Frank). Kim stopped in to see my dad the other day and asked about Thanksgiving and my dad replied its just another day for me and the dogs (Max an ancient standard poodle age 14 and the new puppies Skye and Scout girl standard poodles) . I typically spend Thanksgiving with my mom who I live nearby and we go to family friends (Judy and Jerry of the Boston Bus Trip saga). Lets just say our respective parents have reached that age where they are acting old. Everything is a struggle, the world has gone to hell.. blah blah blah. My mom is so unlike that. Full of piss and vinegar like her sassy daughter IG.

Kim has been my best friend since about 5th grade when we were paired up because we both loved to ski even though we went to different elementary schools. I went to Greenport and she to Claverack. In 6th grade we finally were in the same Middle School and High School together. We went to different colleges (me first to University of Vermont and then on to Colorado, she to St Rose). Once we graduated we hit many dead shows together and I saw her thru a bunch of marriages. Over the years we had our battle royales including one fist fight over boys of course, times when we have been pissed at each other for a year or more but in the end we have an unconditional love for each other. Almost like twins we can finish each other's sentences before they are completed and people who listen to us are like WTF.

Thank goodness Kim is the earthmotherly type she is. She told me that she was hosting a 17 year migrant boy for Thanksgiving. Columbia County is known for its apples and every year Mexicans by the truckload come to pick the apples and work the fields. They work hard and long hours. The lazy welfareloaders who inhabit Hudson are too good to make an honest days wages hence the farmers bring in the Mexicans. This boy is enrolled in school and on the High Honor Roll but is here illegally. His parents left him and returned to Mexico because they didn't or couldn't afford to keep him and he is living in a barn afraid he will be sent back to a life he doesnt want to return to. Now that just plain sucks. I say let the kid who is here and believes in the American Dream stay and ship the gangstas and inbred yahoos who will never earn an honest living and who replicate like rabbits out.

When I read what I just wrote I am conflicted. Ive always been pretty Liberal on most social issues (healthcare, education, the environment) but fiscally conservative. I guess I could be classified as a Neo-Liberal. But I hate the welfare system and have some pretty strong opinions on issues where I take the other side from the normal Liberal and Democratic points of view. In fact Ive probably become more Libertarian. Where once I read Slate.com I now head to Reason.com. Im not sure if its because Im getting older and God forbid jaded or if its because the American public in general doesnt live up to my expectations because they are without a clue and reluctant to change. I always think of the lyrics from Ants Marching:

Driving along on this highway
All these cars and upon the sidewalk
People in every direction
No words exchanged, no time to exchange and when
All the little ants are marching
Red and black antennae waving
They all do it the same
They all do it the same way

My other beef of the week is how gas prices rose from about $2.29 a gallon to $2.36 because of some alleged pipeline issue. MY ASS. We all now its because everyone is over the river and thru the woods this week, on the road for Holiday travel and Black Friday shopping.

I just managed to piss away an entire morning with a blog post, phone calls and combing thru the ads to plan my Black Friday shopping excursion. Oh, and I made Cinnamon buns too. What are holidays for.

Peace All.

Well Lookie Here...........

Runner-up finish in the WWDN last night on stars!! This was only my third WWDN I believe, my 2nd final table and my best finish. I don't believe I minimum raised once. I folded a whole hell of a lot in the beginning as I was getting on the average one playable hand in position every 3 or 4 orbits and my stack had dwindled to under 1000. Breathing room came when EP raised and I reraised with KK. We were all in and he showed TT and I doubled up nicely. Then I called a raise with AK from the pug. King hit on the flop and when another king hit I couldn't wait to get the rest of my chips in it was my AK vs K9 and I was now a medium stack with 4000+ chips.

Carmen got moved to my table with a big old stack, CJ and WWonka and Mungo36 and lightning36 all hit the table and one ghost aka Casper. For a long time it was fold fold fold not just by me but everyone was tight, CJ actually labeled us weak. I literally was getting crap, but figured as long as I got a walk on my blind now and then, and could stay ahead of them Id be okay. Patience is one of my strengths. Finally there was a situation ripe for a squeeze play. Of course it only works if your opponents know the play themselves. The button min-raised I believe it was Seedy, NewinNov called from the SB and I in the bb looked down to see the good old IG: 99. So I push all in and get the desired result from the button but NewinNov insta-calls and flips KK. I think to my self Hakuna Matata... No worries I'm gonna hit a set... I did on the turn which turned into a boat of 999JJ. It didn't hurt that Waffles was on the rail sending a voodoo curse NewWinNov's way.

Quite the little array of railbirds held court. I know Sir Waffles was looking for girl on girl action between Carmen and I. Snake, SLB159, DrPauly, Waffles, Kat, and Wil Wheaton himself all were chattering away. Playing a middle stack is frustrating. You aren't in desperation mode yet but you also don't have a full arsenal of hands available to you that a big stack does. The hand against NewinNov had doubled me up nicely but my key luckbox hand was when I oompah loompah'd WWonka (not the WilWonka). I raised from EP with A5os. I was hoping for fold equity based on table dynamics but Wil reraised me. I thought for a bit and said to myself re-raise steal perhaps? So I decided to push and WWonka flipped AK to have me completely dominated. But my A5 two paired and I put a small hurt on WWonka.

Then the dreaded break came. When you got rhythm and momentum. You want to keep going and a break can interrupt that flow. Its kind of like when I was running and knew when it was time to surge and breakaway. I was getting antsy because this was the furthest I'd gotten in a blogger tourney against some players with pretty great resumes. I was going to call Snake but there was really nothing he could say that he hadn't said from the rail. I said to myself.. IG this path is for you alone tonite. So I got up and left my poker room and did something I try to remember to do. I took some deep breaths meditated for a minute to clear my head and made some tea. SLB159 is saying to himself right now Girl that is so Ghey. Who drinks tea. I may be a tomboy at heart but I'm all girlie girl. I get annoyed when I break or snag my nails on poker chips and I drink tea and virgin frou frou drinks.

Back from the break and eventually it is down to three. We were all even stacked in the upper 20k range. I started tangling with Seedy and lost my stack when I raised with AQ the flop was a gutshot for me but I wasn't going to chase it with the rest of my chips. Down to 19000. Ouch. Lost a few blinds when I failed to connect down to about 12k. I did raise with the hammer from the button and showed. That was a good way to left off steam and show that yes I do have balls to do it. Then Seedy was in trouble to NewinNov who had doubled up off Seedy. He started pushing. When I got the hammer in the BB again and NewinNov called Seedy's all in I said fold girl. So I did and it was me headsup against NewWinNov dominated 6:1 that doesn't scare me. Ive come back from 10:1 deficits. First hand he raises me all in (like Snake did to me live when we were headsup) I insta call with AQc and have him dominated he shows Q2os but the flop hits a two and the ace on the river gives him two pair to my one pair. Waffles where were you when I needed you and thanks to Wil for routing us on at the end.

I would have liked to last longer then one hand headsup but you dont throw away AQ when you are sure you have the best hand and are shortstacked. Cie le Vie. On to the Mookie tonite

From the Editor--That would be Me - IG

Taking Care of Business:

First I corrected the finishing Place in my previous post of SLB159 in Irongirl's-Omaha-A-GO-G0 from 10th to 7th because he gave me shit. Only joking, I didnt recheck the results like a good journalist does and I stand corrected. Neophyte's Serendipity...OOPS there I go with the IAKARIS words again.. For you layman that would be Beginners Luck. Hee Hee..

Next, I get home from to find a "gloating" email From Snake5970 who has emerged from the Canadian Woods. Yes indeedy, my 18 point lead over Coach P has evaporated and he now has the upper hand, and he is liking the view on top. His sub Joe G, who is a pretty stout online player (Smellydigits on FTP) managed to finish #2 and get those key bonus points. So, now I have to challenge Ray to some kind of prop bet. A dual isnt possible because he is a much better shot then I am (that I no without a doubt). So, I think some weird combo of Roshambo/HORSE/PAI Gow and maybe Battleship or Pokeman are in order. I'm thinking along the line of the Gavin Smith/Joe Sebok bet at WSOP. OF course if he loses I can dress him up like his full tilt avatar. I have the hat and glasses and he knows it and Im sure I can come up with the trailer trashy getup she wears. This could be fun. How much Gamble you got Snake??? Then again I already owe Shamanalinx dinner as the side bet for our 1-2 finish in the Poker Analysis Buy-in league Omaha Hi Lo Game. Did I mention I hate to lose (but I do it nicely.

Anyway, I never mentioned that two weeks ago Snake did join me in the Mookie (his very 1st one) and went on to finish #2 to Will Wonka and from the looks of Duggle's blog infuriated the heck out of Duggle with mimimum raising. I am pretty sure that was the first time either of us heard this MRMBJC... Minimum Raises Make Baby Jesus Cry courtesy of the good old Reverend AL. I shared it with Trent that Friday nite when someone minimum raised and it was a hit with Trent. I had to laugh at Dug's post about Snake's alleged donk moves and suckouts because we all know they happen in poker. I am the queen of being rivered just ask Mookie. Rest assured Duggle, Snake aint no Donkey hes won two WSOP Main Event seats. I play against him live every week and he's got plenty of game. There is a reason Mikey calls him Fearless Ray. But dang, I want a MOOKIE win.. My life wont be complete until I see my name in MOOKIE LITES. Im a tad bit jealous even though it was a runner-up finish.

One of my fellow blogger tour mates came by to concur that Dutch Boy is really a douche. Gotta love it. Ah the power of the written word. If I really wanted to send about 150 bloggers over to his site to post nasties I could. But I believe what goes around comes around and I aint no Hollaback girl. So I wont post a link to the little Doucheboys blog this week (typed while sneering evily) but all bets are off if he talks Shit again cuz that would just be B A N A N A S.... with props to Gwen Stefani for that stupid song. My advise to Dutchboy is go stick your finger in the dike or grow some TULIPS son because you just a free-rollah and loader.

And I can die a happy girl............but not yet. Seems like the blogfathers demise was a little premature. My little tribute was nothing compared to the people who knew and loved him the best but I was right on. I read between the lines and knew he was just re-creating himself like all great artists do....IGGY is now at Pokerworks. The Phoenix has risen. The decline of workplace productivity begins anew.

Pumping out product for loyal readers certainly cuts into playing poker. I decided I dont want to be the Suzy Kolber of poker. I would rather be the Carrie Bradshaw of Poker. Who cares about bad beats, suck-outs and hand histories anyway. Boring Boring Boring. My readers were more interested and amazed about all the shoes and clothes I took to Vegas for four days. How I got cabbies to get me places the short and cheap way and what I ate vs IG's donkey call with the KT spades (they look so pretty together) against the Asian kid who looked at her and said "I play the way I feel not the cards". Who just happened to wake up with QQ and move in over the top of her raise. Who stacked her when she was running the table at the Sahara tourney. But that day IG wasn't there. I had another name and it was NY. Given to me by my table mate from Texas who had just cashed in his WSOP event. He pulled me aside to show me how to protect my cards better and said you are the only one at this table I fear go gettem NY take this down.

I did pretty good in the Cake Fight. Three heads so it was a freeroll once I had two heads and a little profit for me. I went out 50th of 207 runners with 30 paying when the blinds were 1000/2000 and everyone's M was about 5. It was bingoplay at that point. I looked down to 77 and pushed knowing I would be posting my bb of $2000 in about 3 hands. Got a call from the BB who had KQos and who had me by about 2000 chips. He spiked one of the cards he needed and out I went. They'll be doing it again next month. I also cashed in another tourney on Poker.com and then made some money at the Omaha Hi lo Potlimit .10/.25 Cap table working off that dang FTP bonus.

Take me to the River......AJ again???

Since I got home so early last night, I was able to make a game for the Poker101A forum on Cake Poker. $5.50 buy-in with bounties on us all. Kind of like the old Jetset Headhunters. I managed to finish 6th of 40 runners (top 6 paid) going out once again with AK vs AJ if I remember correctly. I did earn enough cash to cover the $10+ $1 buyin I will be playing for Poker Analysis. Cake has asked forums to put together 10 person teams. $100 entry fee and then each member buys in for $10. The prize pool is looking kind of nice with $750 to first and 20th paying 42. Again we will all have bounties on us so IG is going to go scalping. Right now 160 entered.

After not working last Saturday (our systems were down for a major upgrade), I went in bright eyed and bushy tailed for my usual 5 hours of +EV of overtime. The time flew by really fast.

I got home after doing some errands to find an IM from Iakaris. Something about he and Miami Don playing their own accounts (after the DADI controversary which I missed playing and didnt know about until I read Jordan's blog) in the BIG GAME Sunday night on FTP, but that they would be cross-dressing and wearing Channel... Thats right Channel... I quickly respond to the good doctor that it should be Chanel and not to forget the Jimmy Choo's. I guess he didnt read Instyle or Vogue in Medical School. If I was good with Photoshop I would dig up that old photo of Trey Parker and Matt Stone at the Oscar's and super-impose MD's and Iak's heads on them. I think IAK would look fetching in that Jennifer Lopez dress. Doesnt Carmen call him SuperModel??

I jingled up SLB159 for the blogger tourney on Poker.com. Steve-O was on a table with a mega-Tilt guy from some strange country (SLB's words). Apparently they had some past history from the Omaha game which I hosted in which SLB finished SEVENTH(Edited and corrected from 10th!!!) and tilted the dude. Now mind you the play in these events is pretty bad. We are talking freeroll mentality for a lot of these folks. Half the folks dont even deserve the name blogger cuz they post one post to get them in the series and dont keep at it. Steve succombs to the Tiltman when he gets flushed but hangs out in chat and to rail me on.

I get off to a nice start and then bigger stacks get moved to my tables. One uber aggressive Scandanavian and a Dutch boy who shall now be known as Doucheboy. Doucheboy has an issue that I am the artifical leader of the blogger tour (because of the points I garnered for hosting and referrals). He then says he hates moi. Imagine that!!! Someone tells him to be nice. I advise him that I have a 3rd and a 20th as well as the first place points for hosting the event (as well as two midpack finishes). Whereas he has a blog of about 4 posts where he says he might play better if he didnt play drunk or stoned. I of course get it in my head that I am going to outplay doucheboy and send him packing. All is looking good. He has me by about 1500 chips. He raises all in either over the top of my raise when I have KK or pushes first. I call he has AJ (not again) and rivers a friggin Ace. So out I go in 35th. SLB cant believe it and says that Hoyazo would call the dude an idiot for pushing in with AJ or AT. Not to worry a few orbits later he pulls the exact same move again. Hes up against KK and the Cowboys hit their set.

Its now onto Pokerstars for a $5.50 buyin for Poker Analysis. I get out good only to once again give up chips to my KK vs AJ hitting two Jacks on the board. WTF. I then double back up when I call the raise to $90 (blinds at 15/30) with the IG (99). the board comes down 556. Sittinbull bets out. I call. Booyah. IG hits her trademark set and I have a boat. I reraise Sittinbull on the turn and get Reraised all in. I call... JJ dont look so good. Custer may not have been able to take a stand against Sittinbull at Little Big Horn but on the felt IG owns. Im playing pretty solid poker and have been all weekend only to take the worst of it on the river. The next hand I get involved in is classic. I'm in the money down to 5. Pekabo is a sitout and I have more chips. I could just as easily fold fold fold till she is blinded out. as Im sitting in third after being the chip leader for a fairly decent time. I look down to find my 99 again. So I raise from the Button and get a caller from the SB who happens to be the chip leader by virtue of getting really lucky. The flop comes down 466. I bet hard and he comes over the top. I reraise him all in. He calls. He flips over 77 (hence my reraise if he had a bigger pair I figure I would have been reraised pre-flop, but then again we arent talking blogger elite here either). the turn is a 3 and the river is a 5 and I am str8d. Say it aint so. The weirdest hand was me and ItsjustJenn (I Came on pokerstars guys lol) both holding QQ to split a pot early on as well as the KK or AA vs 99. 99 hit the set on the river to bust the other player. I wasnt involved in the hand except for the fact that I folded 79suited and the one-outer hit.

By the time AcesCracked rolls around Ive had about enough of poker and say as much to Slb and Love_elf. Miami Don and Smokkee are off to do some uber $ buyin on FTP and Waffles is off to watching the Leonids (the meteor showers). I take a lot of ribbing for my speeding ticket leaving my live game last week. Penn asks why I didnt use cleavage to my advantage. Could be my coat Penn and the fact that I had taken my contacts out and had my glasses on where I look like a little librarian. Taxidermist knocks me out in 7th I think and then tells me to go make him chicken soup. HA HA. I get a big laugh out of that. And type that aint gonna work real well with me (even though I love to cook) ! Here is what IG has to deal with at the table. From last weeks game:

Dealer: Game #6987745507: irongirl01 wins pot (1770) with three of a kind, Jacks
plj1: nh
taxidermist: atta girl
irongirl01: ty
taxidermist: you play good
taxidermist: for a girl with big tits
taxidermist: :P
irongirl01: lol
irongirl01: can i quote you on that

later on after being knocked out:

irongirl01 [observer]: im gonna go try for a token on full tilt
Dealer: Game #6987835890: Percheronmrc wins pot (600)
Shamanalix [observer]: go write nasty things about the 3 stooges ( aka Taxi, Penn and Greb)
taxidermist: gl
irongirl01 [observer]: lmao
Penfolio: look on the bright side - u still have your tillys

So I decide that the best way for me to spend the rest of my Saturday nite is too color my hair to get it back to its dark espresso brown and watch the U TUBE video of Kenny Rogers the Gambler that SLB hooked me up with. Its pretty funny. And, Im still waiting for Waffles special IG segment from the Mookie the other nite. After that its time for the Tillys and I to get some beauty sleep.

APL Week #11- Live Play

Not a lot to talk about this week. I went out 21st of 27 or so runners. Card dead first two orbits but I took down two pots from the BB with crap hands. I then raised to 600 with the blinds at 100/200 from UTG and was put all in from the 5 seat. I correctly laid AJh down to AA. We rabbited the cards I would have lost two pair to a set of aces. Right read on my opponent who I hadnt faced in the previous 10 weeks. I looked at Edawg (Eric) and said had it been you I might have called ya!! That didnt make IG very happy.

I look down at my small blind a few hands later to see AK. Edawg (Eric) raised to $700. I have two decisions here. Just call the raise or push all in. Eric had a huge stack of chips having knocked out DMoney (Darren) and Silo (Rich). Steve, Dane, Trent and Joyce were already out. Joe subbing for Snake (Ray) has a big old stack. I have 18 points on Ray and 11 on Lex. Other top tenners could move ahead of me but it would take a win to do so and that would be Doug and Zoe. I decide not to play girly poker and re-raise all-in putting Eric on a weaker Ace or perhaps JJ or QQ. He has me plenty covered. When we flip the cards I have him dominated AK vs AJ. Of course he spikes a Jack on the flop. When you are hot you are hot. Bill had folded a King and I fail to improve. I go home now.

Im not particularly fond of my all-in move there with AK and the blinds low. I made the correct read and played the player correctly but in retrospect I didnt have to gamble that early.

Not the way I wanted to start off the second half of the season but I had my worst outing the first week we played and got it all out of my system to recover quite nicely. 9 Weeks to go. Next week the ultimate perfect day.... Black Friday Shopping and Poker!!!

WOW and OH MY!!

I got home tonite just in time (6 minutes to spare) to get registered for the AcesCracked Thursday nite midweek tourney on FTP. Two nights in a row and I had to put up with two accidents on the Northway plus one on my way into work this morning. I am not sure why people drive with their heads up their asses. Maybe if they pulled their heads out of their asses they would be able to see where they are going.

Because I got home so late I was rushing around trying to get Bailey situated. My cat is really a dog in a cats body. He wants lots of attention and needs to be exercised. That means a good game of catch and fetch. I was trying to feed him, pet him, get changed, play my Thursday night league game and get registered for the DADI. I made it to heads-up in the AcesCracked game but was too unfocussed to want to commit mine and Snakes money to a $24 + $2 shorthanded tourney against the blogger elite in the DADI. Plus, I had just finshed a short-handed tourney and well if it wasnt for Starbucks the turkey dinner we had at work (early Thanksgiving) would have put me in the land of sweet dreams. Im now suitably wired and capable of pumping out an uber post. My league mates will till you that when IG has a caffeine buzz going watch out. Probably explains why I got a speeding ticket last Friday nite on my way home. DANG should have gone out with Tracey and Karen when they asked me too. My timing sucks.

Soon, I will never have to get dressed to go to work nor will I get stuck in traffic or have to deal with morons who cant drive in the snow even though they have lived in the Northeast all their adult lives. No I am not taking up the oldest profession. Its called work-at-home. Some of my co-workers have asked how I could work without being around people. When you talk on the phone virtually non-stop for 9 hours a day you really dont have time to socialize. I am an extroverted introvert. I love people and parties and all things fun but I love my private alone and quiet time too. Im looking forward to being able to work in my Adidas Capri's and Cami tops and I wont have to wear shoes even though I love footwear.

When I checked out Mookie's blog tonite I was shocked to find that the DADI will go on permanent hiatus after tonite. Damn I never got to play one and am kind of kicking myself now. Although Ive been blogging for almost two years, I didnt really get going till this year with frequent postings. I didnt start playing the blogger tourneys until after my return from Vegas so Im a newbie on the scene. But Ive made some acquaintances that I cant wait to meet: SLB, Waffles, Surf, Kat, Carmen, IAK, the Mook himself, Jordan and the list goes on and on. Ive been welcomed with open arms and thats just pretty damn cool. I immersed myself in all this while dealing with all the change that has occurred with online poker and the industry.

Not only is the DADI going away but the posts on IGGY's blog lead me to believe he is making some life changes and giving up Guiness and Poker. Could he be giving up Guiness or just poker or is he recreating himself? Not to long ago he stopped by my blog and gave me a shout out. To be named by the blogfather himself was an honor. Last week he posted a cryptic message about using a soul cleansing post I had done as inspiration. Whatever path the great Ignatius chooses we all wish him well. I know a great phoenix rises from the ashes. I personally try to reinvent myself once a decade. Lets see touring Deadhead in twenties to Runnergirl then zoftig chubby girl in thirties. Back to svelte runnergirl/triathlete in early forties to Poker player in my mid dare I say forties. I've lived to tell more then my share of tales, but I havent eaten a Keno crayon yet nor wielded the perfect hammer.

Between the MATH, the WWDN and WWDNot, the Mookie I and II, Don's Big Game, the WBPT, CC's new series on Pokerstars, the events Matt from Poker Savvy has hosted and Poker.com's World Blogger tour I will never be bored. As old bloggers take a breather there will always be new bloggers taking up the challenge. We've seen it with the heads up and sit and go challenges not to mention my other league games I can participate in both live and online.

I have about two weeks worth of poker escapades to get caught up on. And Waffles mentioned he has a special recording for me. Hopefully its not my donkey-licious move with the QQ least nite.

GO EMMITT

Dang I wished I had watched more of this. I love dancing myself and although I'm not naturally graceful when it comes to ballet, I have natural rhythm when it comes to Jazz, tap and hip-hop/freestyle and I used to be a mean texas-two stepper. I did live thru the Disco era and lived to tell tales. I could hustle, pretzel and knot with the best of them. In fact as a freshman me and one of the guys in my dorm won a disco dance contest (and yes I was a deadhead at the time too!!.

Even though Mario looks born to dance (and he does have some background in it as a kid) and looks more professional, Emmitt makes it look like fun and has a big old smile on his face. I'm rooting for him. The Vegas line is Emmitt will prevail. Besides Mario is too pretty. Guys just shouldn't be that pretty. Sorry Slater!!

Quick Sunday Update

I'll be playing the $39 buy-in satellite to the Sunday $215 Omaha Hi/Lo tourney courtesy of my friend Gmroz (gary) tonite starting at 5:30 PM on Pokerstars. Later this week I will be playing the DADI partially staked by Snake5970 (Ray). While he's bagging deer in Canada I hope to be taking out a few bloggers. Im even considering signing up as an alternate for the Heads-Up Challenge #4.

I caught up with my favorite poker playing college student Tilter yesterday who found me on MSN. We talked about the changes I had made in my game and he advised it was just a matter of time before the big payoff came. I know I had become too predictable and my play would only get me so far. That style of play worked on the virtual aquarium of Titan Poker but wasnt doing the job on Stars and Full Tilt. Id get into the money but would often arrive at the final table too short stacked to make a move.

Trent (Lgkeeper)and Ray have both been my muses in this respect. Trent is constantly drumming pot odds into my head to the point where Im beginning to do the mathematically correct move even if I may be behind pre-flop. Even though I am a numbers girl its hard to remember to slow yourself down to figure out the pot size, the bet size and what your opponent's bet size means while handling chips, dealing and looking for tells and dealing with tipsy league mates who are getting incoherent. It's all coming together faster then I expected it too. I now stand at 7 final tables 10 weeks into the league with 5 cashes (top 6 pays).

I'm a gal who sets goals and plans ahead. My ultimate goal is to earn a seat in a WSOP tourney for 2007. I have a little index card pinned to the cubicle wall in front of me at work. There are 8 characters printed in black felt tip marker:

Is the Third time the Charm?

I didnt play a 180 person sng last nite so I didnt win one. I did cash in the $3.30 pokerstars buyin with 2484 players finishing in 333rd place when my AQ got beat by KQ (so what else is new) Thanks to Snake and PokerPrincess for railing me.

I got home from work to find this email from Rob:

NFL Poolers,

It's going to the MNF game (OAK @ SEA) for:
CU (8-5, OAK 42 points)
IRONGRL (8-5, SEA 36 points)
JD (8-5, SEA 34 points)
MAYBE (8-5, SEA 49 points)
PAOLO (8-5, SEA 44 points)
RT (8-5, SEA 33 points)
TY (8-5, SEA 32 points)

If OAK wins, CU wins.

If SEA wins, and the score is ...
... 32 or less, TY wins.
... 33, RT wins.
... 34, JD wins.
... 35, JD/IRONGRL split.
... 36-39, IRONGRL wins.
... 40, IRONGRL/PAOLO split.
... 41-46, PAOLO wins.
... 47 or more, MAYBE wins.

Wow I have three ways to win. My logic for picking the Monday nite total points were to go one less or so then the posted line.

Seattle Just scored!! 29 more points needed!!!

Yesterday started out slow like my horoscope said it would. I did stuff around the house and then took a bunch of checks from the withdrawals I made from various poker rooms due to the Unlawful Internet Gaming Act to the bank to deposit. I decided not to open up a savings account at HSBC where I have my mortgage and checking account. Instead I opted to open one at Citizens to keep my poker winnings separate from my everyday funds. This is money bankrolled for Vegas 2007.

The branch I went to is located inside the Walmart Super Center and we all know how IG loves her supercenter. Cute young dude opens up my account. Hes a shameless flirt so I just give it back. Now I had just washed my hair and it was kind of naturally drying and well wild. Im dressed in Adidas Capris and a tshirt. The guy looks at me and says you cant open a savings account without a checking account, So why dont you just open a checking account and get a Debit card. Cool Dude I say. As he rambles on about the wonderful perks I am about to receive he adds.. "You're account has a $2000 overdraft protection in case you get NAKED. Uhh Uhh I mean Negative." I immediately fell into a fit of laughter.

The night before during the AcesCracked game the subject got to getting naked and I mentioned that in all my years of taking in dead shows I was never one of those Tripping Billys or Anne Heche types that wanted to take my clothes off and run around bare-assed naked. Sham said "no wonder they broke up". I said "Sham Jerry Died." somehow or other the topic got to pole dancing. I asked the Taxidermist (and yes RK really is a Taxidermist) if there was a deerhead on top of the pole or if I would have to dance with some other prop. This must have inspired him to greatness as he went on to win. Amazing what visuals can do.

So I get home from Walmart and Snake calls me and we talk about how he finished up Friday nite after I left and I of course give him my analysis of the Sunday million (yeah right like I've ever played onw). Ray wound up out in 4th only two places ahead of me. I mention "2nd place you tied me, 1st you would have moved ahead of me. Im still two points ahead. I figured it out in my little math wiz brain." He just laughs and says "I knew you would" and of course he had it all figured out too. He hasnt logged on to pokerstars yet and I have it up so Im yapping on the phone to him and every once in awhile im updating him on the climbing count of the Sunday Million.(Dang I want to be the Suzy Kolber of poker) At first the guarantee wasnt even met. By the time I told him to get ready to play there were 6000+ runners. 10000 starting chips but WHOA NELLY 40/80 blinds to start!!!

So at first I cant chat as they say I have to be registered so I shoot him an email to tell him to stay patient when he gets down $1k in chips. I then see SILO his brother type a message so now Im pissed because Rich is not in the Million. What does Lee Jones have against me? Shortly thereafter Im okay to chat. Hell I have enough money to cover the buyin on Stars.

My tourney is getting going and Im also playing a SNG on Absolute at the Poker Analysis Private table. Im doing okay in the SNG and holding my own on pokerstars while keeping an eye on Rays progress in the million. Shortly after his break he calls me back and says hes not playing well. "Hold ON.... QQ" I Squeal. Now Ray calls me TILLY from time to time, not only because of the Dark hair and sunglasses and style of clothing I wear but probably for the fact that my voice can reach a really nice annoying pitch when I get overly excited. Although Im a native New Yorker you'd never now it but for a few words like DAWG and Draw for Drawer and Cawfee. I sound more like a Deadhead Valley Girl from my college years out west since my speech is overly peppered with Dude and Like you know. Im all-in against AQ. "I cant look" I say melodramatically and pop the AP screen up over my Pokerstars table. "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE they hold". I've doubled up.

I bubble in the PA sng in 4th when I run my KQ into AK or some such thing. ItsjustJenn was getting hands and I was getting annoyed of her trying to steal my blind. So I attempted the old allin push and I was all out. Sokay, Ill get my money back another day. Ray bows out of the million. He raises with what he had left and the flop comes 9 rag rag. I know he has only one shot here and its to push the rest of his stack in. I know hes probably holding something like KJ or QT. He makes the push and hes drawing dead. the person has pocket 99 he had KJ. I give him like two minutes to collect himself. When he answers the phone I can tell hes disgusted. "You just got railed by the IG I say". I just played poorly he replies. Ill come to rail you in your tourney in a few minutes. Back off to do battle as Im getting close to the money.

Later on that nite I catch up with JB on MSN as Im signing onto Full Tilt and hes just coming off. I pop in on the Blogger Big Game. Something Im still too chicken shit to do. Iakaris or Jordan has just won a big hand. I type nice hand to the hand winner and am greeted with IG IG IG from Surflexus and IAK from the table .. IG IG IG from Kat and SLB and a few others from the rail. I had just reloaded yahoo messenger at slb's urging and Im glad I did. We have a nice blogger chat going and soon Dug and Waffles join in. Im grinding away at my bonus on FTP at a .15/.25 Omaha Hi Lo table with a $10 cap. Dug joins me for a bit and takes a pot off me when flush and str8 draw misses. I state that grinding is boring that I need to multi-table. Waffles suggests that watching porn might ease the boredom. Must be a guy thing. Anyway at midnite I sign off up about $10 profit and Ive worked off $4 of bonus for about an hours work. Ive recovered my AcesCracked buyin and almost my Mookie.

23 MORE POINTS!!!

Poker Week in Review and Life does imitate art sometimes

My horoscope for the day. Uncanny how it mirrored exactly what I just did and wrote about in yesterday's post.

Libra Horoscope: November 5, 2006

Low biorhythms may have you feeling less than your usual self, IG. Your mind may not be quite as quick as it usually is, and you may go through the day in a bit of a fog, possibly reflecting on the past. This is not quite as aimless as it sounds. You might want to jot down your memories and reflections, as they might shed light on something that is going on with you now.

I donked out first in the AcesCracked league game last nite on pokerstars. Mistake of moving in with TPTK holding AK in a threeway. Not only did I get flushed on the river but I was a dog to the set of fours that one of my opponents flopped. I was playing sideways poker. Up Down Up Down Up Down Down Down out, much like the league game on Full Tilt on Thursday nite where I got frustrated and ran out of patience and wound up on the bubble. I then chip dumped my remaining stack in the Freeroll league game for Poker Analysis on Absolute Poker. I regrouped to take a third place in a SNG on pokerstars after being the early leader for a good part of the STT while railing Snake5970 (Ray) in his qualifier for the Pokerstars Sunday millions. Congrats to Coach P for making it.

9 weeks into the Adirondack Poker League I have now made 6 final tables in 9 weeks and have 4 cashes in 9 tourneys. I lasted to 6th place Friday nite. I am still getting crappy cards and did not see AK, KK or AA at all. In fact I probably have not seen pocket aces now in close to 600+ hands of poker. I did see KK once yesterday. I will stay in third place unless Ray won Friday nites tourney in which case he will take over the third spot. If he finished in the two spot we are tied. Steve and Eric both were out well before the final table so we made some headway on the leaders. Doug should move ahead of Zoe as he was still in on Friday nite when I left and Zoe didnt make the Final Table this week. Those bonus points for making the final table are crucial. For the season ending top 10ers tourney, our starting chip counts are based on the points earned thru out the twenty week season. Next week we are halfway home.

I really need to start to get up to Turning Stone to play some tourneys up there to prepare myself for WSOP 2007. I've had some invites to meet up with some of the blogger crew in Foxwoods and Atlantic City and am definitely considering it. With the holidays and work changes I may not be able to swing anything till Im actually working from home. Carol wanted me to go to Atlantic City with her in December and it would be nice to work that in with the WSOP circuit event that some of the blogger guys are attending and participating in but right now timing is just not good.

I had a lousy showing in my own Blogger Tour Event #4. Omaha Hi sucks when you dont get any hands and the flops miss you completely. I also hadnt played Omaha Hi in about three months!!! I went out 60th of 97 or so runners. I had a beautiful high rundown hand of ATJQ and of course the flop came all lows. My rundown hands that managed to wrap on the flop for multiple way straights missed completely by the turn and river with the board either pairing or filling the flush. It was fun as some of the regular bloggers like Slb159 (steve), livesagrind, lightning36 and Biggestron all participated. At one point, Biggie and Steve and I were all together. Congrats to SLB159 who managed a top ten finish in IRONGIRLS OMAHA A GO GO!! Biggie went out right after me I think but was happy I had selected something other then no limit to play. I would have preferred Omaha 8 but alas Poker.com's upgrade is not scheduled for another week or so. New games like Razz and Omaha 8 and Badugi and Manila are going to be offered.

I just realized another regular blogger and Mookie participant JL514(Jordan) played when I was catching up on SLB159's blog. I love his comment:

You didn't notice JCL514 because he's a donkey and sucks at omaha. He thinks his low straight is the shit until he realizes its very possible someone made a higher straight. Much to his surprise, after he pushes and gets two callers, they both turn over FULL HOUSES not straights. God im an idiot.

Been there done that. I once spun out of a Omaha Hi tourney for some league thinking it was Omaha Hi/Lo. It was only when I noticed the lobby and it said Omaha Hi did I realize what had happened. We had never played Omaha Hi before it had always been Omaha Hi Lo but the league owner decided to alternate weeks and forms of Omaha.. BIG OOPS there and classic mistep.

Two people actually three I need to thank. My good buddy Jeff Baldwin and MrsJB for some positive reinforcement last nite. And also to Bruce (Shamanalinx) for being intuitive enough to know I was not my usual positive self either and for taking note on how much my game has improved since my return from Vegas. I may not have made the money in the Mookie yet but elswhere Ive been kicking some ass. A few bumps in the road this week in online play but Ill turn it around.

And my laugh of the day comes courtesy of gal pals Sandy and Carol (Poker Princess and DCI Assassin/MTGplayer (for magic the gathering)!! They wanted to make sure that I was not letting Jaykedog back in the picture!!! Yes, I had heard from him sometime in September (and they both knew that). I actually wound up being seated next to him in a tourney a few weeks ago. I know Bonnie (Catzeyez) who was seated with us at the final table probably was saying to herself this should be interesting. But Im a class act. I was cordial in table chat as I was in my reply email to him to have a nice life. He actually wound up knocking me out in 4th after I had doubled thru him a few times when he called my all in with AT and I had QQ. But I had the last laugh as it was on Jetset poker and they closed the next day!! Of course I probably wont be seeing my money either. Anyway, Sandy gave me a lecture that was not needed like a mom till I told her.. PP rest assured I am not revisiting THAT.

All for now. Monster Pots and Good Cardma too all. Id really really really like to win my football league just once this year but have been sucking bad after being a contender for the weekly win the first two weeks. And I really really really would like to win a 180 person sng on stars $20 buyin.

On Writing and Stuff

When I started this blog back in February 2005 it was to document my poker progress as I moved from freeroller/minnow to bigger stakes/shark with musings from my life thrown in. I wrote for myself and myself alone. Sure a few friends read my blog when I divulged the site but it was really meant to be a personal diary and I wrote without concern that someone I know might take something the wrong way or be privy to something they werent meant to find out. Then my blog started getting hits from other poker bloggers and poker players and more friends and a transformation occured where you are not just writing for yourself but for an audience. 642 folks have found their way here in less then two years. Certainly not the hits that Pauly, IGGY or Felicia get but to me thats a lot. Regardless I write because I enjoy its cathartic soul cleansing properties and I largely still write for myself.

This month is National Novel Writing month. I'm amazed at the number of poker bloggers who are undertaking or attempting this effort. I've bookmarked the site but alas wont be able to write that next great edition to Chick Literature just yet. It seems like I could write an auto-biographical one with IG as the heroine as that's the way my life seems to be going these days.

I was over reading Joe Speaker's blog which gave me something to really think about concerning relationships. Joe is brutally honest about the demise of his marriage and the discovery of his wife cheating on him. He has an amazing analysis of why his marriage was doomed to fail. Benign neglect and failure to communicate. So when you ask your someone what is wrong and they say nothing can you really believe them?

Twenty years later I am still amazingly good friends with my old boyfriend from my twenties. The fact that he is married and lives in California may have something to do with it. Besides my Best Friend Forever(BFF) Kim, Rob probably knows me better then even my own sister. We've had days where we emailed/talked every day and months can go by where we dont talk at all. Rob and Toni even came to visit me two years ago and I can honestly say that in some respects he married me. Why didnt we work out? Right person for the most part wrong time. Plus some addictions that needed to be addressed that neither one of us were aware of at the time.

Then there was Michael, completely the wrong person. But when a gal gets out of out-patient rehab and feels she has a Scarlet A for alcoholic on her head and is sent to twelve step meetings its only logical to wind up with another recovering person. To Michaels credit he is the reason I started running again and got pretty good for my age-group. But he hated how involved I got in the running community, didnt think I went to enough meetings (In fact I havent been to a meeting in about 7 years) and we were as different as night and day. I once said that Michael was an 8 year mistake and my friend Sandy stated.. NO an 8 year lesson some of us are just slow learners.

Michael was emotionally needy with very low self esteem and I wound up neglecting myself and packed on 50 lbs. When we parted in April 1999 it was like an albatross had been lifted from my neck. Halfway thru our relationship and before I had put on a pound, I was considering leaving him. He proposed and I accepted. I found out later that he only proposed because he had cheated on me with an old girlfriend and he didnt want to lose me. We were not on a break. I felt trapped when I did find out, but didnt have the finances to move out on my own as I had made a mess of mine during my twenties. It wasnt a bad situation and it wasnt good it just was.

It was about a year after we split before I was remotely interested in dating again. I had resumed running again and the weight had tumbled off. There was one guy that would have done anything for me in the world but had relationship issues and was a curmudgeon. He did get me thru my first and only marathon. I called him a Hobbit and once said to my friend Karen "It would take a wizard and twelve dwarfs to get Steve to go on an adventure". When its fourth and long you punt. He was never going to be anything more then a good friend and shortly thereafter I starting dating other people and he moved to Watertown.

Then there was an infamous date where the dude kept checking his blackberry which I found rude. We went for a hike in a park that I ran trails on alot. When he started running up the hill in his hiking boots to "get his heart rate up" my competitive nature kicked in. I was in my trail runners and said to myself. Dude, I just want to kick you ass now and sprint by you and leave you in these woods. One date was enough.

Anyway back to Joe. Joe got me thinking about a situation Ive found myself in that I realized if I didnt make a move or address it soon, I would have no one to blame but myself. There is no excuse for inertia. Ive pushed my chips all-in and dont know if Im drawing dead yet or if I will hit my hand. I may not know for a bit. And as patient as I am at poker, I am not known for my patience when it comes to cleaning up little life issues.

EDIT*****

Poker has taught me to trust my gut and not to second guess myself. I now know I have a really special person and friend in my life who probably has more questions to be answered then me and Im really okay with that. Amazing what a little bit of communication can do. I think Dave Matthews says it best:

Where are you going? where do you go?
Are you looking for answers to questions under the stars?
If along the way you are growing weary, you can rest with me
Until a brighter day and you're OK
